BeautyShot Cosmetics Serums ~ First Impression

A couple days ago I received a pack from the wonderful team at Beauty Shot Cosmetics
I love getting mail to be honest! I jump up and down like a little girl every time I receive it.
I received 3 packs of their Serums!
I received, Skin Detox, Party Prep and Emergency.

Packaging
Okay the packaging is so cute.
Each pack comes in a little box as shown before, and when you open the lid it has instruction on the back. The colours and feel of all the boxes is adorable.

Each pack had 7 little glass decanters that are 3ml each.
I love this. Each has a little dropper and one vial is two doses for your beautiful skin!
I love the fact they are packaged individually like this as it means if you go away for a couple of days, you do not have to take a massive bottle of serum. You just take what you need :)

First Impression of Product
To be totally honest I was a bit concerned about using this product!
A couple weeks before I had used a serum on my poor oily skin and I had broken out like no tomorrow. I cannot say as of yet if I'm going to break out, but once I am a bit further into trial I will be able to tell you!

I have used this twice now.
I have been using the Emergency Serum pack.
On the instructions, it states to offer:
Instant Tightness
Smoothness
and Nourishment

I can tell you now after two applications it does.
I feel a spring in my skin, and if made my skin feel soo smooth.
I have a couple abrasions as I exfoliated last night, and even the roughness of that is gone.
It has really hydrated my skin, and nourished it.

As I test these products out some more, I will tell you a bit more about each kit. This will be about 4 weeks away. I will be able to tell you by then if it has broken me out etc.

Thanks for reading again!
Leave a comment if I should do more first Impressions :)

Get the info on: Stippling Brushes!

I love stippling brushes.
The concept behind a stippling brush is to get an airbrush foundation application, every time, without the use of an airbrush compressor or airbrush makeup.
This basically makes the "airbrush look" available to even people like me in which cosmetics may not necessarily come in my fortnightly budget.

I have 3 of these types of brushes. By far I deem them as a very good investment.

There are in all honesty two different way to use the brush.
Honestly, it's up to you what is best for this type of brush, and technically you can use a brush for anything you damn well like.
I have even done competitions where you are only allowed to use one brush for a whole face! Seriously, but it did teach me that one brush can be used for multiple ways!
But here is my example from YouTube on how to get the best from your stippling/stipple/duo-fiber/skunk brush :)

The Battle of the Mascara's no. 2!!! eep!

So it is that time again. Battle of the mascara's! I have seriously not done one of these since September 2012 and when I realized I had quite a little collection going on and I hadn't done this post in a while, then I though I may finally do it!

I literally hoard my mascara's just for Battle of the mascara's! eep!

Revlon Photoready 3D Volume Mascara in 01 Blackest Black

This honestly is a really good mascara. It coated my lashes quite well and it isn't typically a wand I would choose anyways. This was gifted to me in 2012 for Christmas.
I only had one issue, which is an issue with a lot of these mascara's.
I didn't have the waterproof one. I must say this Mascara was the worst for getting in my eyes! It stung so badly! This was the worst for stinging.

This mascara is really similar to the designer brands mascara I had last time I did Battle of the Mascara's. Very similar in person, It didn't show well in the photo.

MaXFactor Masterpiece Max Mascara

I love this mascara. I got a lot of volume and lift from this mascara.
Not much to say apart from I LOVE IT!

Maybelline Define-A-Lash Volume Mascara

This was a shocking mascara as well to be honest. It did nothing but clump all of my lashes together. And leaving very big balls of mascara on my lashes.

The wand was really similar to my Rimmel one.
These are both very shocking masara's...
Like very shocking...

Paintbox Curling and Volume Mascara

Okay this was horrible.
I cannot stand this mascara!
I honestly got nothing from it. Maybe a little curling but that is it.
I have no clue what went wrong with this. It clumps, it is hard to build up, coverage is minimal etc.
HORRIBLE!

The wand is very much the same as the NP Set Glamorista Mascara.
I hated them both............ awkward!

Essence Get Big Lashes
This is one of the best mascara's I have ever owned.
It's cheap, it's great. I love it.

It is very similar to my Maybelline The Colossal mascara, which I also really adore.
I did a review on the Essence Get Big Lashes Mascara which is viewable here:
http://sparrowstylings.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/essence-get-big-lashes-mascara-review-xx.html

So that is it for my Battle of the Mascara's again!
Hope this helps you in picking your next Mascara!

:)

FOTD - 23rd of March 2014

This is my Face of the Day 23rd of March 2014

I used the brown powder to fill in my brown and then went of with my Australis Lash & Brow Extender to set it.

I used the shimmer silver through my crease (I have deepset eyes so that is why I used shimmer) and the pink on my lids.

I then used both the blushes on my cheeks later in the process.

I used a mix of Garnier BB Cream in Light and Maybelline Fit me in 225 for my base.
The Fit Me was more used to darken my BB Cream as I am a bit tanned at the moment.

I used this Nivea Balm in Pink Guava with the Revlon Lipstick in 457 Wild Orchid over the top.

I finished off with the Essence Get Big Lashes.

Hope you like my FOTD :)

Essence Get Big Lashes Mascara Review xx

When Priceline had it's 40% off sale I needed desperately to replace my Maybelline The Colossal Mascara. Although I was on a very tight budget.

Instead, I decided to try out a mascara from the essence range.
I chose the Essence Get Big Lashes mascara which retails for $4.25 at Priceline as apposed to Maybelline's The Colossal which retails for $19.95 at Priceline.

I love this mascara. The main reason I chose this is because the wands were somewhat similar, which you can tell in the photo below, although the essence one is larger, and also because of cost.

The Essence mascara has really grown on me.
From the packaging to the application.
This covers my lashes well with no overly noticeable chunks which I commonly find with alot of cheaper mascara's. Even though I do typically comb my lashes out before it dries, chunks or no chunks.

This is a very good mascara for it's price tag, and I am very very impressed :)

Once again, thank you for reading. Feel free to leave a comment :)

Furless Cosmetics Makeup Brushes xx

A few weeks ago, I got a message from the Furless team asking if I wanted to try a few of their brushes! I was more than excited to as I have heard a lot of good things about Furless.

Furless Cosmetics are cruelty free and vegan. Furless offers a great range of synthetic makeup brushes.

I received 3 makeup brushes.

Furless Brush no. PF3

So this is an angled blush brush.
I have not had much issue with this at all!
It is a beautiful brush, and it's not HUGE compared to some of the other brushes that I have for blush etc. I like the purple of the bristles, and it doesn't look weird what so ever with product on it.
It isn't overly dense, which I love in a blush brush. It picks up colour well, and best bit is, it is so soft for a blush brush!

Furless Brush no. PPF3

This is my least favorite brush of the 3.
I am not really a huge fan of duo-fiber brushes, nor the flat top face brushes anyways.
It doesn't blend to my expectation, and compared to a few other duo-fibers I have, it is quite small. If I were to use one, I would rather a larger one.

Furless Brush no. MF2

Last but not least my favorite brush.
The multi-purpose MF2 Brush.
I have already done a review on this brush which is viewable at:

http://sparrowstylings.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/furless-brush-no-mf2-xx.html

And I have also used this brush in a demonstration of full coverage foundation, which is the video below:

Disclaimer
All views and opinions of the Furless Brushes are of my own and no body elses.
I have yes been sent these 3 brushes by the company Furless cosmetics, but this does not change any opinions of the brushes. I have not been compensated to make a dishonest review.

First Impression ~ Dr. Hauschka Rose Nurturing Bath Essence xx

Instagram

If you had seen my lovely post on Instagram earlier, then you would know I am going on a 30 day skin challenge. A massive thank-you to Dr. Hauschka for their kind trial box they sent me that I received this morning! I had also done an unboxing video which is on Youtube which I will have down below!

We have the kids home from Mum's (they are so happy to be home, may do a vlog this week) and I thought meh, time to turn over a new leaf and begin new beginnings.
So I have started my 30 day skin challenge tonight.

I enjoyed a beautiful bath tonight with Dr. Hauschka's Rose Nurturing Bath Essence!
It was such a lovely bath and it smelt so nice. Now I smell of rose!
My first impression of this is nothing but nice!
I love it. The smell wouldn't of been something I chose, but luckily I had no choice otherwise I wouldn't of found out that I adore it! So beautiful :)

As I have set this post up to be posted at 9am, I may let you all in on a secret.
Tomorrow I will be posting my full First Impressions Blog at sometime.

But that could change. Either way I will be writing it tomorrow, just depends on when it will post.
The products I have used have already been very good!

So keep an eye out for that.

Have a good day everyone! xoxox

Disclaimer
These opinions are all of my own. Yes the items were sent to me but that does not change my opinions. Thank-you xx

Time to understand why we get slugged for cosmetic prices in Australia.

Recently I have been complaining about cost of makeup items in Australia.
Yes I complain, but I do have a reason.

I am looking to build a kit on small budget.
Majority brands I want, are to expensive. I have been shopping around. Yet majority companies slug you for shipping. It's not the cost of Australia, it's the cost of shipping from oversea's retailers I am complaining about.

Today I just wanted to give an insight into why we get charged a LOT for cosmetics in Australia.

We need to first think about the chain of progression of the product being made and how it gets to Australia.

Product Design
This will include how the product looks, feels, applies, colour range, graphic design etc. It will also include wages to the designers as well as prototype costs.

Formula Creation
This will include the many formula's that are created ready to be testing.

Testing
As sad as it is, this will either be tested on animals of humans :(

Cost of production
which includes employee wages and income to company that produces it. An extra charge to support maintenance costs to the production line.

Freight back to warehouse
this will include packing materials, employee wages

Company employee wages
This will be to, maintenance crews, office workers, social networking teams, numerous retail customer service teams.

Company Income
This will go towards advertising, maintenance of company growth, investments, and to have money away for company growth which may be a new store opening and an increase in wages, as well as planning for new product launches etc.

And here is the interesting part where prices double for Australians.

Wholesale Shipping to Australia
Customs Charges, Shipping Charges, Employee Wages, Cost of purchasing from previous warehouse, packing materials, transport on trucks etc.

Employee Wages in Australia
To pay for warehouse employee wages, maintenance staff wages, storage staff wages, retail customer service wages etc.

And if purchasing online
Online website developer wages, packaging material costs, freight costs etc.

And the money paid to Freight will pay our mail man's wages, Truck/boat transportation, etc.

That is where money adds up. Once our Australian Sectors buy these products, Like MAC Australia buys items off MAC America, the process will double again as well as paying for the items.

So Say America sells a lipstick for $20 and we import it to Australia. We will have:
$2 per item to go to Wholesale Import Costs
$10 per item go to pay for everyone's wages
$2 per item for company income to import more items
$4 per item to go to marketing and maintenance etc.

and that alone is already $18 added making it $38 to import and sell in Australia.
Plus Australia is one of the highest paying workers wages in Australia which is what really determines the price of products.

Yes it is a bit shit to buy all the nice things so expensively and "America is Cheaper"
But in reality we are paying for food to go into peoples mouths.
And at the end of the day, we are buying from America and a lot more than you think goes into our lipsticks to get this quality.

Hopefully this was not too confusing and helps with understanding it a bit easier.

Furless Brush no. MF2 xx

Out of all 3 brushes sent to me by Furless, I think this one needs a post of it's own.
Sorry about the picture, I used it earlier so it still has product in it.

Now this is a multi-purpose brush which I think it is the perfect name for it.
If you seen my Youtube video earlier in the week on heavy coverage Foundation, then you would know that I love to use this for that.

This brush is amazing to use damp and with concealers and because of the pointed tip, it makes it so easy to get into the eye area and sides of the nose.

I prefer to use this with concealer, but you can use it with foundation, powder, blush, contouring, and even the eye area if you wish.

There are only three things I did not like with this brush.
It is very dense, which is good to work with, but a pain in the bum to clean, AND it has a very thick handle, which is good for control and grip, but I pick product up with the ends of my brush to put onto my palette or back of my hand. It's a real win/lose situation. My least favorite thing (which is why I left the brush dirty) is that when product is still on it, it looks like a really feral colour. I think pastel teal green and foundation colours do not go well haha. Nothing major, but a little on the annoying side.

Also this brush is cruelty free, and vegan. :)
And since they are synthetic brushes, they are perfect for liquids as the bristles wont hold bacteria, so it will wash all the yucky straight out, and they are great to use damp.

I do recommend using synthetic brushes damp mainly when working with a liquid product, this is to prevent product wastage, as they will retain liquids like no tomorrow. If you use it dry, it will be something to learn with control of how much product you pick up. When synthetic brushes are dry, they will absorb your liquid products like no tomorrow. That is something I learnt from the Rae Morris books.

This brush, is also a bargain price at only $10.
You can purchase it on the Furless Website.
There is a picture below, click on that, and use the code to receive 15% off your purchase!

Disclaimer
Yes this brush was sent to me by Furless Cosmetics.
Furless does understand that I will be giving my honest opinion and nothing other than that.
The above opinion is of my own and no one else's.
I was not told what to say, or how to use it best.
This is purely my OWN opinion.

Face of Australia Face Base Primer xx First Impressions

If you know me well, I do not normally use primer.
I just did not find myself running to buy one when I already have good methods.

I am still not overly excited about this product.
In the past couple days I have not noticed any difference to my normal routine.
Probably only one difference is I have noticed my skin feels smoother.. Doesn't look it though.

It seems to make my face smell like hand wash..
It has a very strong scent which I do not like.

I have not noticed any longer of a lifespan in my Foundation etc.
Also since I have started using it, meaning more product on my face, I have started to notice a more cake face appearance... It's weird.
I will still use this for another two weeks to see if I start noticing differences.
But so far I am not so excited about it yet.

Time will tell I suppose.

How to: Get the best from your Pigments xx

For this little demonstration, I have used the Paintbox Pigment pot in Mauve.
I have applied one straight to the lid, and the other with a damp brush.

In the photo the left is applied dry and the right was applied wet.
The photo didn't do much justice but the damp was a lot better.
It was a lot smoother and was easier to blend with less fallout.

Makeup on my eyes has a habit or wearing off quickly, and this photo does no justice as well.
the dry side had completely worn of and went blotchy.
The wet had slightly worn, right now 4hrs later, the wet is still pretty vibrant.
The wet applicated eye had worn more evenly and maintained it's vibrancy a lot better.

Moral of the story.
Apply pigment with a damp brush for a lot better results

People for Plants First Impression! xx

If you follow me on Instagram, then you will know I received a couple goodies in the mail today!
So we all know what that means, FIRST IMPRESSIONS TIME!

Instagram

Last night (quite late as I was overtired and really wanted a bath to relax) I had my bath, and replaced my normal products with this Body Scrub and Body Cream.

I must say I think my body is already thanking me a million times over for the replacement.
Yes, this will be a good first impression as I am overly IMPRESSED!

For starters, I'm proud of the company. They are Organic and Cruelty free. To me I feel as though they really don't lie to their consumers. On the front it will have how much of the product is organically certified. Like the scrub is 85.4% organic certified, and the cream is 91.7% organic certified.
I think that is hard to come by alone in the company.
And to top it off, customer service has been amazing :) Even got a cute little hand written note in my pack :) so cute! Thanks, so lovely :)

Now onto my first impressions of the products.

Hand cream is a winner so far! I have been using it most of today, and is already in the handbag. It doesn't leave the greasiness on the hands after use, so I can confidently drive after putting it on. Also, it is a heavy Hand Cream, but sinks in so quickly. A small amount goes a long way, meaning it lasts longer, OH YEAH!

The Scrub... Big word, WOW!
I have a big issue with using scrubs and exfoliants. They seem to always tear my skin leaving marks and scars and tears. Even some look like cat scratch marks. The best one I had was from Sportsgirl, but even that did it sometimes, even though I only do it once every Friday.
I did not have this issue last night. Big winner. Once I have used it a bit more frequently, I will post a full review. Same goes with all the products from People for Plants. So far so good.

The Body Cream time, so okay, it was a little heavy. I think that may be human error due to my own stupidity. I used way to much... With my old one, because it was a hard balm type lotion thingo (from sportsgirl) I was used to getting a lot out and really rubbing it, so I made a bit of a biggie and used a lot to the fact my legs went white.. Oops... :/ but in saying that, it has soaked in well, it's greasy etc. Same quality as the Hand Cream really. I do my feet as well, and I forgot to grab socks (as we have tiles and sealed floorboards) thankfully though, it soaked in quickly which meant no slipping around, YAY!

So far so good. I think after tonight's experience, I may be making a life change to this brand. Especially since my wedding is this year! YAHOO!

So far so good People for Plants!
And everyone, keep an eye out for the full review in about 4 weeks time!

Disclaimer
Yes these products were sent to me to try, no I am not paid to post a positive opinion, and yes these opinions are mine and mine only.

Essence Pencils xx

Instagram

Essence has been a brand I have loved for a while now.
And to top it off, they are so freakin' cheap!
LOVE!

I now own a total of 6 essence pencils, and I will keep re-purchasing these.

My recent ones were 3 lip liners and one eyebrow pencil.

My eyebrow pencil (bottom liner and left swatch) is in the colour 02 Brown.
It isn't creamy which I love (the less creamy, the more staying power) but not too hard.
The staying power is great!!!!! I mean EXTRA GREAT!!!
So this is already a love for me!

I also brought three lip liners. 08 Red Blush (top pencil, right swatch), 02 My Treasure Island from the Ticket to Paradise Collection (2nd down in Pencils and Inner Right swatch) and 03 Hot Chocolate (3rd down in pencils, and inner left swatch).

Red Blush is very creamy, and very comfortable to wear. It looks great with just a gloss over the top and staying power is great.
My Treasure Island, OMG it is so glossy, almost to the point I could wear it by itself! It is such a beautiful liner!
Hot Chocolate was rough at first, but once I gave it a sharpen and took away that hardened outside from sitting in a package, it was really creamy. This would work really well on my Mum as she has darker skin again than me. But for me it washes me out, even with gloss. Once I have more maroon or brown lipsticks, I will wear it. But I don't have any at the moment! :(

Hope this informs you a lot more on the quality of these. So much bang for buck considering Hot CHocolate was 0.87c, Red Blush was $1.75, Eyebrow pencil was $2.50 and My Treasure Island was $2.25.

Thanks for reading :) xx

I Cbf with Makeup, Makeup Look & what I used!

This look I have created takes me only 5 minutes to do.
It's very light and simple, and very comfortable to wear!

So I have started with Face of Australia Face Base Primer all over my face.
Then I have Highlighted with my Revlon Photoready Skinlights Face Illuminator on the top of my cheeks, down my nose and above my cupids box. Ya know, just typical highlighting.

Then I applied my Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in 225 and concealed using the Maybelline Superstay 24 concealer on my dark hyper-pigmentation and blemishes. I then set my whole face generously with my Kett Cosmetics Translucent Powder.

I have then done my lips using the essence lipliner in 02 My Treasure Island from the Ticket To Paradise Collection, and used the Models Prefer Lip Gloss over the top in Fuchsia Faith.

I have then used my Concealer again on my eye area and then used Mac Espresso Eyeshadow on the outter to middle area of my lid, and then the white from the essence 50's Girls eyeshadow quad in 02 You're a Heartbreaker.

I have then followed up with the Essence Get Big Lashes mascara and Models Prefer Brow Highlighter below my eyebrow.

Then to finish off I applied my Revlon Blush in 050 Berry Rich to my cheeks.

And also, Maysie says HELLO!

Thanks, and hope you liked this!
Comment if you wear a similar look and tell me what you use :)

Models Prefer POP Lipgloss Box!

I have been on the hunt for new products to try.
But also keeping on the cheap side, as well lets face it, not everyone can afford high end products!

I am constantly looking for quality, and considering I do want to move into Bridal Makeup, I am looking for things like cheaper lipstick that have great quality so my brides can go purchase the touch up products easily and at affordable prices!

This product is however, just for me.

I got this set on sale for $4.20 although the normal price is $7.00.

The Models Prefer POP Lipgloss Box came with 6 different glosses.
AND they are all of a good quality for it's price tag.

The look of the box is what dragged me in first. Not even so much that it had lip glosses.
Once I seen the cool colours, I had to have it!

The colours from left to right in the box and swatches are, Midnight Mary, Fuchsia Faith, Peach Paige, Pink Portia, Coral Carly and Ruby Rose.
The names really suit the style of packaging that have used.

So far my favorite colours are Pink Portia and Coral Carly.
They are the only two that don't loose a heap of their colour once applied and really do POP for a gloss, which I am impressed about.

These I will wear over the top of lipstick or liners.
Midnight Mary in the one featured in this weeks tip of the week!

The smell of these isn't so bad. They smell really fruity. There is another product I had when I was around 13 that smells identical. I think it was one of the old Lip Smackers. Maybe. But they smell good to me and remind me so much of something!

Hope you have enjoyed my post :) xx
